PRE-DANCE
- Ages 3-6. Class introduces the young child to dance and a structured
class setting while introducing ballet positions and basic dance terminology.
Tap and tumbling used to further develop the child's body awareness and
promote large muscle development.
BEGINNING BALLET - Age groups: 6-8 years, 8-11 years, 10-12 years, 12 years and up, teen/adult. Class introduces basic ballet position and alignment, and dance terminology.
BALLET - Levels: I - VI. Classes designed for the post-beginning ballet student with
increasing difficulty introduced as progressions are mastered. Levels are
not necessarily moved each year, nor are they necessarily moved consecutively.
- Ballet levels III – V requires two ballet classes each week in addition to tech classes
- Ballet VI requires three ballet classes each week in addition to tech classes
POINTE I - Beginning pointe class by permission of Director. Two ballet classes required for pointe.
POINTE II - Intermediate/Advanced pointe class
designed for dancers wishing to continue performance in ballet. Prerequisite:
Ballet IV/V or B and permission of Director. Two ballet classes required.
POINTE CONDITIONING - Class is designed to strengthen feet and muscles in order to execute accurate pointe work. Involves working in the pool. Class requires 2 ballet classes, thera-band, and permission of Director.
ADULT
BALLET - Beginning ballet class designed for the adult who has had
little or no ballet training, concentrating on basic ballet positions,
body alignment and dance terminology. Excellent for fitness.
MODERN - Students deal with the intricate relationships of time, space and energy as applied to movement, explore their own movement through improvisational techniques, and learn choreographed dance material. An important vehicle for adding depth to the dance experience. Required "Unlimited", or directors permission.
BEGINNING TAP & JAZZ - Age group: 6-10 years. For the young dancer, teaches the fundamentals of rhythm, patterns and coordination.
TAP I - Age groups: 7-10 years, 10-12 years, 12
years & up, adult. For the novice dancer who has had little or no training
in tap.
TAP II-IV - Age groups: 8-11 years, 10-12 years, 12 years & up, teen/adult. For the dancer who has had previous tap training. Increased difficulty in combinations and styles taught.
JAZZ I - Age groups: 7-10 years, 10-12 years, teen/adult,
adult. For the novice dancer who has had little or no jazz training.
(B.A.B. strongly recommends ballet be taken along with
jazz; and is required for advancement in the jazz program.)
JAZZ II-VI - Age groups: 8-11 years, 10-12 years, 12 years & up, teen/adult. For the dancer who has had previous jazz training. Increased difficulty in combinations and styles.
HIP-HOP A & B
Age groups groups Ages 11 years & younger, 12 years
& older. Students develop an understanding of rhythm and space
thru the popping and locking techniques of a cultural movement. This class
incorporates the styles from the street and the clubs to enhance the aspects
of dance.
TUMBLING I - Ages 6-12. TUMBLING II - Ages 12 & up. Class incorporates basic tumbling with dance, teaching combinations and performance preparation. Builds strength in the dancer. Placed according to skill. Required for "Unlimited" students.
PLACEMENT CLASS - Class offers basic skills to help integrate student into our dance program. A placement class may be made available for a beginning or new student in Tap, Ballet, or Jazz before a permanent placement is determined.
BALLET TECHNIQUE CLASS - A graded technique program. Students are examined by the Cecchetti Council of America and the Royal Academy of Dancing, London. Listed as RAD & CCA on schedule. Both Methods are Required for "Unlimited". Highly recommended for all dancers ages 6 and up.
