Then,
in 1990 Belliston Ballet found a new home at it’s present location at
8310 Coal Mine Ave. Over the past 26 years Mrs. Belliston has touched
the lives of thousands of young people. She has had the opportunity
to train six students who have gone on to professional careers at places
such as; Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet
Theater, Julliard, and Colorado Ballet. Belliston Ballet has been
proud to see many of their dancers receive scholarships & awards from
places such as, School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston
& Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theater (training ground for New York
City Ballet), as well as others. B.A.B. students have received over
$100,000 in student scholarships.
Belliston Ballet is the only school in Colorado that has had two different students, Seth Belliston & Courtney Wright, win the prestigious Florence Rustin Award from the Denver Ballet Guild two years in a row. Through the years Belliston Ballet has had many students who have won Denver Ballet Guild Scholarships.
Leah Belliston also received the Florence Rustin Award in 1991. Today, Leah dances at Pacific Northwest Ballet and has modeled for Bloch Dancewear.
In 1996 Mrs. Belliston traveled to New York where her son Seth Belliston, one of her former students, was presented the Princess Grace Award. Seth also received the Mae L. Wein Award, a $10,000 cash prize given each year to just a select few individuals who show great promise in the arts. Today Seth is a Principle dancer at Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle Washington.
In 1998 Mrs. Belliston took two of her students
to Lausanne Switzerland for the Prix de Lausanne competition.
These students were just two of eight students representing the United
States. Courtney Wright was a finalist at this competition proving that
once again BAB is made up of outstanding young dancers. Today, Courtney
dances at San Francisco Ballet, one of the nation's top ballet companies.
When we look back over the past twenty-six years we have so much for which we can be proud. We have grown from a basement studio with 17 students and one teacher... to a studio of 300, and though we have had many changes along the way one thing remains the same, our commitment to giving our students the best in dance training and education.
We believe that together we are Simply the
Best!
